Terms of use
These terms are the agreement between you and Bantefa when you use the Bantefa apps or bantefa.com. By creating an account you agree to them.
Last updated 23 October 2026.
What Bantefa does
Bantefa records lectures on your phone, writes a transcript, turns it into notes, finds deadlines, and reminds you about them and about your classes. You can share a class's notes with classmates inside the app.
The notes are written by software, including AI. They can be wrong or leave things out. Check anything that matters, like a deadline, a formula or an exam date, with your lecturer, your course materials or your classmates.
Your account
- You sign in with Apple or Google. Keep that account safe: whoever can use it can use your Bantefa account.
- One person per account.
- If you're under 18, you need your parent's or guardian's OK to use Bantefa.
Recording
- You're responsible for being allowed to record. Ask your lecturer first, and follow your school's rules.
- Record only classes you attend, and never use Bantefa to record people in secret.
- Your classmates' voices are personal data. Keep your recordings for your own study.
Classes and sharing
- When you create a class, you confirm the lecturer agreed to the recording and to sharing the notes within the class.
- Notes shared in a class are for its members. Don't post them publicly or sell them.
- We may close a class or take its notes down when a lecturer asks, or when these terms are broken.
Plans and payments
- Free trial. Each new account gets 3 recordings, once, each written up to 2 hours, and 5 questions. One trial per phone.
- Bantefa, ₦1,000 a month. 10 hours of recording and 20 questions a month.
- Plus, ₦2,000 a month. 20 hours of recording and 40 questions a month, playback of your recordings for 90 days, and Word or PDF export of your own notes.
- Semester passes, on this website only. ₦3,800 for 4 months of Bantefa, or ₦7,500 for 4 months of Plus, paid once. Passes don't renew.
- Top-ups. ₦500 for 4 more hours in the current month.
- How hours count. Hours are counted from the audio we receive, and they come off the plan of the person who records. Unused hours and questions don't carry over to the next month.
- Running out. When your hours run out, Bantefa keeps recording and keeps your audio, and writes the notes once you have hours again.
- Renewing and cancelling. Monthly plans renew until you cancel. Stop a plan bought on this website on your account page; cancel one bought in the app in the App Store or Google Play. Either way, it runs to the end of the month you paid for.
- Refunds. Payments in the App Store and Google Play follow their refund rules. If something went wrong with a payment on this website, write to [email protected].
- Price changes. We'll tell you before a price changes. A new price applies to a monthly plan from its first renewal after we tell you.
Using Bantefa fairly
Don't use Bantefa to break the law or anyone's rights, to record people in secret, to harass anyone, to share notes outside your class, to get around the limits of your plan, or to disrupt or copy the service.
Your content
Your recordings, transcripts and notes are yours. You let us store and process them only to run Bantefa for you, and for your class when you share into one. Lectures belong to the people who give them, and Bantefa's notes are for private study.
Ending
You can delete your account at any time, in the app or at bantefa.com/delete-account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we'll tell you why.
Our responsibility
We work to keep Bantefa running and its notes right, but we can't promise it will never fail, miss a deadline or make a mistake. As far as the law allows, Bantefa isn't responsible for lost marks, missed deadlines or other indirect losses, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the 3 months before the problem. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Nigerian consumer law.
The app stores
If you got Bantefa from the App Store, Apple's standard licence agreement for apps also applies. Apple and Google aren't responsible for Bantefa or its support.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria.
Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before the change applies.
